EASTERN RAILWAY INVITES APPLICATIONS FROM OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONS FOR RECRUITMENT AGAINST SPORTS QUOTA FOR THE YEAR 2012-13.

i) CATEGORY : 1 No. of posts : 3 (three)
Grade/Scale of Pay : PB-1, Pay R. 5200-20,200/- + Grade Pay Rs. 2400/2800/-

(ii) CATEGORY : 2 No. of posts : 9(nine)
Grade/Scale of Pay : PB-1, Pay Rs. 5200-20,200/- + Grade Pay Rs. 1900/2000/-

Educational Qualifications :
Category (1) : Minimum Degree from a recognized University or its equivalent.
Category (2) : Minimum pass in Matriculation or its equivalent
Category (3) : Minimum 10th pass or ITI or equivalent

Age : Minimum 18 years and maximum 25 years (as on 01.01.2013)

ii) Application as per the format given below should be sent in a closed envelope superscripted ‘APPLICATION FOR SPORTS QUOTA RECRUITMENT’ by ordinary post or to be dropped in the box placed at ground floor in front of the Eastern Railway Sports Association’s Office at the address mentioned below;Chief Personnel Officer,Eastern Railway Headquarters,ERSA office,17, Netaji Subhas Road,Fairlie Place,Kolkata-700001.
General Instructions:
(1)Sports persons having sports norms for higher Grade Pay and applied against the vacancies for the lower Grade Pay can be considered for recruitment. In
such cases the sportsperson has to give an undertaking that he/she will not claim for higher Grade Pay after joining the railway,
(2)For recruitment in Athletics(M&W), Badminton (M&W),Basketball(W), Billiards etc.
(3) Eligibility will be considered based on the performance in the championships held on01.04.2010 or afterwards only and sportsperson shall be a currently active player.
(4) The selection will be conducted through trial and interview. SC/ST candidates will have to submit a copy of Caste Certificate issued by duly authorized competent Govt.

5.  For individual events, the performance during the field trial should be at least equivalent or better than the 3rd place (time/distance etc.) of last All India Railway Championships. Postal Order of Rs. 60/- for the post in scale PB-I Rs. 5200-20200 + GP Rs. 2400/2800/- and Postal Order of Rs. 40/- for
6. Minorities will mean Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains & Zoroastrians (Parsis). (b)Economically backward classes will mean the candidates whose family income is less than Rs.50,000/- per annum
7.  Union Minister may also recommend for any person from anywhere in the country. Sitting Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha for persons of the district in which these MPsnormally reside.
(8) All the Championships mentioned above as sports norms for recruitment shall be conductedunder the aegis of recognized International/National/State Sports Federation and alsorecognized by the Railway Sports Promotion Board. Indian Postal order should be sent infavour of “FA & CAO/EASTERN RAILWAY” which is not refundable.
9. Applications sent by registered post or courier service will not be entertained. (v) All copies ofcertificates submitted along with the application should be duly attested by a gazetted officer.
10. Kindly ensure to bring original documents for Date of Birth, Educational Qualification,Sports Achievements, Caste Certificate on the date of trial and interview without which thecandidate will not be allowed to appear in the selection.
11. The candidates may be required to stay during the selection trials for 2-3 days for which theyhave to make their own arrangements.
12. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC etc. is not applicablefor sports quota recruitment.  All or any of the terms/conditions in the notification can be modified/cancelled without any notice.
13. Railway Administration does not undertake any responsibility for sending reply to thecandidates not selected or not called for.
14. Railway Administration will not be held responsible forpostal delay.

About the organization:  
Eastern Railway was formed on 14th April, 1952 by integration of the East Indian Railway consisting of Sealdah, Howrah, Asansol and Danapur Divisions and the entire Bengal – Nagpur Railway.Later, the portion of BNR stretching from Howrah to Visakhapatnam in the South, Howrah to Nagpur in the Central area and upto Katni in the North Central Region were separated from Eastern Railway and formed as “South Eastern Railway” with effect from 1st August 1955.After redistribution and construction of new lines over a period of time, Eastern Railway as on 30th September 2002, stretched over 4245.61 kilometres.On 01-10-2002, three divisions viz. Dhanbad, Mughalsarai and Danapur were separated from Eastern Railway to create new East Central Railway zone with headquarters at Hajipur.
